And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. "Psalm 1:3, (KJV).

The Feast of the Promise is a one day celebration of the 40 year journey of the Israelites in the wilderness. For us it symbolizes God's provision, protection, and promises to his people. It was evidence of God's faithfulness to His people as they wandered in the desert. In the O T, the people of God were instructed to build tabernacles and dwell in them, not permanently, but temporally as God had promised that He would bring them out to a land flowing with milk and honey.

The Feast of the Promise , as we call it , is taken from the Feast of the Tabernacles which are referenced in Exodus 23;16, 34:22, Leviticus 23:34-43, Numbers 29:12-40, Deuteronomy 16:13-15, Ezra 3;4 and Nehemiah 8:13-18. To the Christian church we are reminded by Paul in Colossians 1:16-17 that the feast of the tabernacle were only a shadow of the things to come through Jesus Christ.

The Feast of the Promise will be held on Sunday, August 17,2014 at the Dogwood and Tupelo Shelters in the Genesee Valley Park. During this celebration, Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church brings the 8:00am and the 11:00am services together in the for a festival meal. Families are asked to bring a dish to pass, to set up tents and lawn chairs representing the 12 tribes of Israel. Music is played and children engage in a variety of fun games and activities.

The meal will be served at 2:30pm, so please bring your dish to pass at around 2:00pm. The event will conclude at 6:00pm. Please bring the entire family and friends out for a time of fun and fellowship and in remembrance that God has truly blessed our church family.
